Antipasti Boards

So addicted to antipasti after European adventures. We made an assortment of antipasti for dinner with Matt. Lightly steamed baby asparagus and carrot sticks, saint agur blue cheese, tallegio brie cheese, lemon wedges, artichoke, grilled fennel, grilled eggplant, chilli jam, beetroot dip which we bought & hummus which we made. We also toasted some wholemeal pita breads to eat it with. Making hummus is so tasty, easy, cheap & is a whole lot better for you then the store bought version - recipe below!

Hummus
1 x Tin of organic chickpeas
1 x lemon
1 tsp x tahini paste (hulled)
1 tbs x olive oil
salt & pepper
1x blender

Heat the chickpeas in a pan with their tin juices. Pour the chickpeas into the blender, add tahini paste, olive oil and the juice of half a lemon. Crack Salt & Pepper into the mix. Blend! Don't forget to check the seasoning & adjust. The hummus will keep for a couple days in the fridge, and makes a good snack.

Sourced Grocer

We had lunch at Sourced Grocer in Tenneriffe. Sourced Grocer is a gourmet grocery store come cafe, stocking a wide range of fresh produce, dairy, meats, cheeses & dry goods. Sourced serves Cup Specialty Coffee which is one of our favourite coffees and have a delicious brunch menu. We had soy flat whites & shared home-made felafel with baby spinach salad and mushroom & cheese quesadillas which were amazing and sat out in the sun on the milk crates.

Northey Street City Farm - Sunday Organic Market

Last Sunday, we ventured down to Northey Street City Farm in Brisbane. Northey Street City Farm is a non-profit community organisation and was started in 1994, and allows people to enjoy and participate in permaculture, in the city. Every Sunday morning, the farm hosts an organic markets from 6am-10am, selling certified organic fruit, vegetables, bread, dairy, meat and drygoods. The produce is to die for and definitely worth getting up early, especially to see the cute little daschund hanging out at the cafe. We wanted to try everything! Going back next weekend to stock up the pantry with yummy organics.
